The Finnish flag in the center is surrounded by the Bear Claw pattern in the colors of the O'Shea family crest. The brown bear is the national animal of Finland and is featured prominently in Finnish mythology. The homestead, originally dating back to at least 1896, belonged to the Wiitala family beginning in 1905. The O'Shea family has lived on the property since 1975.
